Leading UK tissue producer moves into new unit at Lancashire Business Park

Lancashire-based Accrol have increased their operational base by leasing a new logistics building, giving them more space to develop their business.

Construction has finished on the new building at Lancashire Business Park near Leyland and it has now been handed over.

The new 68,000 sq ft building is next to their main manufacturing unit on the popular Lancashire Business Park at Farington. It is equipped for the changing face of business and the emerging green agenda with solar panels and EV car charging points.

Accrol are the UK’s leading independent tissue manufacturer, producing toilet tissue, kitchen towel, facial tissue and biodegradable wet wipes.

Gareth Jenkins, chief executive of Accrol, explains: “More than 75 of our 400 strong workforce are based in Leyland and our investment in the site is a key step in the ongoing development of our business.

“Accrol is a nationwide operation, and this new warehouse enables us to further enhance the service we provide to our growing customer base of leading retailers. As an expanding business and the UK’s largest supplier of private label toilet roll and kitchen towel, we’re always striving to improve.

“I’m also proud that this new facility has been built to be energy generating in line with our environmental agenda as we work towards becoming a carbon neutral business.”

The business park is owned by Lancashire County Council’s economic development company Lancashire County Developments Limited (LCDL).

County Councillor Matthew Maxwell-Scott, deputy chair of LCDL, said: “We’re proud that we’re supporting Accrol’s plans to grow their business by providing them with more space in a bigger unit on our popular business park. When companies choose to stay here, it’s a clear sign that we’re meeting their requirements and providing them with a great location for their business.”

Construction has been carried out by the Bamber Bridge-based company Eric Wright Group, through the county council’s Strategic Partnership Agreement.

County Councillor Aidy Riggott, cabinet member for economic development and growth, said: “Supporting local businesses, especially in the next stages of their expansion, is a priority for us here at the county council. The construction itself also involves local companies through our partnership agreement, which is further helping to support local jobs and growth here in the county.”

Further developments are currently being planned on the business park, which will add more space and add additional facilities.
