Champion boxer helps more than 100 ST&R employees mark milestone anniversary

Chorley-based insurance and mortgage specialist firm, ST&R, celebrated its tenth year in business with a fun-packed day of team-building activities, employee awards and a very special celebrity appearance.

More than 100 of the company’s workforce were whisked away to luxury tipis in nearby Riley Green where they were treated to food, drinks and music by both a DJ and a live band.

An early highlight of the day saw teams taking the opportunity to test their mettle against legendary TV show The Crystal Maze.

ST&R management then honoured the best-performing and longest-serving company employees, with special awards handed out by VIP guest, Jack Catterall – the title-winning boxer who also hails from Chorley.

Twenty-two employees received long-service awards, ranging from five years through to a full decade with the company, joining in its inaugural year, 2012.

Over the last decade, ST&R has grown in reputation and stature to become one of the leading insurance and mortgage providers in the UK.

ST&R offers a wide portfolio of products ranging from the full suite of general policies such as life and home insurance through to more niche protection including critical illness cover and accident insurance. The company’s long-established relationships with all the leading providers allow it to offer the most competitive services to both consumer and businesses.

James Slater, CEO of ST&R, said: “We have experienced a whirlwind ten years and have grown from a start-up company to a major industry player thanks to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. We successfully navigated the pandemic thanks to the hard work and adaptability of our teams which are incredibly proud. It’s meant business continued to grow and we actually emerged stronger as a thriving business.

“There have been many challenges faced over the last couple of years, both in our industry and of course in all of our personal lives, so we were delighted to be able to bring more than 100 of our team together to show them our appreciation for everything that they do for ST&R.”

James added: “The special appearance by Jack Catterall made our awards presentation all the more special and we thank him for his time and wish him all the best when he next challenges for the world championship – the entire ST&R team is behind him.”
