ANWYL Homes has promoted Matthew Gould to sales director for its Lancashire business as the company looks to double its output this year.
Matthew has risen quickly through the Anwyl ranks. Having joined the then fledgling Anwyl Homes Lancashire in 2018 as an area sales manager, he helped establish the sales team over the next two years.
He was promoted to head of sales for the Buckshaw Village based company in July 2019
Matthew said: “Anwyl has such a long and well established heritage in North Wales and Cheshire, combined with ambitious future growth plans here in Lancashire and Merseyside. I’m looking forward to progressing my career further and growing with the business.
“I’m proud to have achieved a directorship at this stage of my career, particularly after such a challenging year. The pandemic has made us rethink how we do lots of things, including the introduction of online reservations and virtual appointments – making the most of digital technology, while keeping it personal for our homebuyers.”
Anwyl Homes Lancashire is now active at eight locations in Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire. Sales have recently launched at Priory Gardens in Burscough, West Lancashire, while Winnington Place, near Northwich, Cheshire is coming soon.
Ongoing developments include Lawrence Gardens, Barton; Bluebell Meadows, Fulwood; Stonebridge Fold, Longridge; Lea Grange, St Helens and Edenhurst Grange in Liverpool. Carr’s Rise in Prescot, which launched in 2018, was Anwyl Homes Lancashire’s first development and the last of the 119 properties was recently sold.
“In the last financial year we achieved 90 completions, but the goal for this year is 200 and we want to reach 400+ a year by 2023,” Matthew added.
“My main focus is to contribute towards and deliver on the targets set by the company. To be able to deliver those numbers we’ll need to grow the sales and marketing departments.”
Matthew, originally from Stoke-on-Trent, studied business management and marketing at Keele University, graduating with a first class honours degree. He undertook an internship at Macmillan Cancer Support and, after graduating, joined Redrow’s rotational graduate scheme becoming an area sales manager for their North West business before joining Anwyl.
“I recognised that Anwyl Homes is a fast growing company. I was aware of and had admired the quality of the Anwyl product prior to joining, but the more I learnt about the direction of the business, the more I wanted to be a part of it,” Matthew recalled.
“As a sales person, the big thing for me is the specification – what we include as standard is pretty much unrivalled for the type of homes and the price range. We have a high specification with flooring, downlights and kitchen appliances all included and the quality of the products that we use and the overall finish is excellent. You notice the tall ceilings as soon as you walk into an Anwyl home.”
“The product looks fantastic, with lots of character, and it feels good when you drive on to a development.”
Anwyl Homes Lancashire managing director John Grime said: “Matthew has shown great leadership, helping the sales team adapt to the changes introduced in response to the pandemic. He’s proven to be a real asset to the company and I’m confident that he will help us continue to grow our Lancashire business.”
Part of North Wales headquartered Anwyl Homes, the Lancashire business played a key role in Anwyl being named Housebuilder of the Year at the 2020 NW Insider Residential Property Awards. Anwyl was also named in the latest Sunday Times PcW Top Track 250 league table, which ranks Britain’s leading mid-market private companies with the biggest sales. Both achievements came in the year the company celebrated its 90th anniversary.
