Napthens advises on Cleveley Mere purchase

A luxury holiday resort in Lancashire has been acquired as part of a growing North West leisure portfolio.

Cleveley Mere, a holiday resort consisting of luxury waterside lodges based outside of Scorton, has been acquired by Lakeside Retreats Ltd, owned by Adam Johnstone, director of Tiffany’s Hotel on Blackpool Promenade.

The deal, which was advised on by regional law firm Napthens, involved Mr. Johnstone’s company taking ownership of the eight lodges and cabins based around the 34-acre gated site. In addition to the range of four and five-star lodges, the resort offers access to fishing on the lake, along with bikes and water sports and children’s activity areas.

Adam and his wife are now planning to expand the site with seven new lodges, in addition to hot tubs overlooking the lake and a new feature on the lake itself. They also plan to diversify the business by offering corporate and wedding packages.

He said: “The moment we visited the site we fell in love with it. There is a huge potential on the site to create a secluded holiday retreat for families with a range of outside and water based activities.

“We can also see new lodges coming to the site over the next few years so that we can continue to grow the business, in addition to offering team building activities and wedding packages overlooking the lake with added accommodation.”

Adam Johnstone was advised in the acquisition by Matthew Parr, David Carr and Rebecca Miller at Napthens, which has offices in Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, Kendal, Southport and Liverpool.

Martin Long, Partner at Napthens said: “Adam is a bold businessman with an exciting ambition to grow his leisure business in Lancashire with the stunning Cleveley Mere. It is great to see such enthusiasm and optimism in the leisure industry during such challenging times and I wish him every success in growing the venue’s offer to families looking for an escape and expanding into new markets.”
