Work has commenced on a development of new homes on the former Ingol Golf Club site, off Sheraton Park in Preston.
Leading residential developer Bellway has planning consent to build 152 high quality new build homes on the 31.7 acre site and initial groundworks on the roads and sewers are now underway.
Reflecting the site’s history as a popular local golf club that was first opened in 1981 and designed by the champion golfer Henry Cotton, and its desirable leafy location close to woodland, Bellway will call the new development Cotton Woods.
The HBF 5-Star rated housebuilder will transform the site with a mix of two and three bedroom semi-detached homes as well as three and four bedroom detached homes, surrounded by areas of landscaped public open space. The development will also include a number of affordable properties.
Currently unused, the development forms part of a wider redevelopment masterplan for a high quality sustainable residential development of 450 dwellings that is well located close to shops, everyday amenities and transport links.
The scheme for Cotton Woods will provide a series of new and improved pedestrian and cycle routes connecting the development to the surrounding area to encourage the use of sustainable modes of transport and a healthy and active lifestyle.
Additionally, all properties will be built to traditionally high standards and be highly sustainable meeting at least a 19% improvement in dwellings emissions rate (over the national target) and incorporating solar panels and electric vehicle charging points as standard.
The properties built at Cotton Woods will be a selection of Bellway’s Artisan Collection; an innovative new collection of 24 house types with contemporary vernaculars designed to suit different rural or urban settings. As with all new properties from Bellway, they will feature an excellent specification that includes a garage and/or off road parking, a choice of contemporary fitted kitchens and modern bathroom suites.
Sales director at Bellway, Jenny Bell, commented: “We are delighted to be the first housebuilder to receive approval to develop at the former Ingol Golf Club site and to be making a start on site. We look forward to delivering a superb range of stylish and sustainable high quality homes that serve to enhance and improve the local area. We are confident the properties will be well received by local homebuyers.”
