Lancaster digital business base underway

Development of a cutting edge technology hub for businesses in Lancaster is now well underway.

The new business base, called Fraser House, is being developed at White Cross Business Park and will offer three floors of high quality, modern working space for tech based companies in Lancaster.

Krol Corlett Constructors started on site in May and are on target for the facility to be completed early in 2021. The ground floor will offer tech companies a great place to work and network in a large, modern co-working space, with small modular offices and meeting rooms also available.

The upper floors have large self-contained office space that is suitable for bigger, fast-growing tech companies. This also offers access to the tech hub facilities.

Businesses have already registered interest in the upper floors. The top floor is under offer to local tech company, Relative Insight.

All floors will have high-specification digital connectivity with broadband capacity of up to 10GB, which is essential for the sector.

The building is being developed by Lancashire County Developments Ltd, Lancashire County Council’s economic development company, which is investing more than £1.5m in the site.

County Councillor Michael Green, cabinet member for economic development, environment and planning, said: “It’s great to see this important new development moving on at pace.

“The digital sector is so important, particularly in Lancaster where a cluster of businesses is growing.

“The co-worker area will be a creative space where smaller businesses can work, network and develop ideas together.

“The upper offices will be ideal for established businesses, which are looking to grow further at the heart of a thriving digital business community.

“Any businesses interested in using this new facility should contact us to find out more.”

Local partners including Lancaster University and Lancaster City Council, alongside local business owners, have helped to co-design the space to ensure it responds to the needs of the community.
