New business development in central Lancashire

Construction of eight new units on Lancashire Business Park, near Leyland, is now well underway.

The development will provide superb new facilities for businesses when the units open in early 2021.

This building will consist of eight new industrial and warehouse units, with between 3,000 square feet and 36,300 square feet of high-quality accommodation to let.

The units will offer high-speed broadband connections, electric vehicle charging points and will be partially solar powered.

This new development is part of Lancashire Business Park, in Farington near Leyland, which offers excellent access to the motorway network.

The business park is owned by Lancashire County Developments Limited (LCDL), the economic development company for Lancashire County Council.

County Councillor Tim Ashton, chairman of LCDL, said: “This is already a popular business park and it’s great that with these new units, we’ll be able to offer even more space for small and medium-size businesses to grow and develop.

“We know that businesses have had a tough time recently, due to the effects of coronavirus. We want to support our economy here in Lancashire to grow once again and develop further in the future.

“There is a demand for more businesses wanting to move to the park and this new development will help us to meet this need and help them to grow.

Lancashire Business Park is already home to a mixture of manufacturing and distribution companies including Amazon, Accrol Paper and Main Road Sheet Metal.

County Councillor Michael Green, Cabinet member for economic development, environment and planning, said: “Farington and Leyland have a rich history of being a great area to do business and this is continuing at Lancashire Business Park.

“The superb transport links make this area an ideal place for a business. It also offers superb facilities such as electronic charging points, which are an important addition to our offer on site.

“It’s great to see the new buildings taking shape and we look forward to welcoming more new companies when the development opens next year.”

Construction is being carried out by the Bamber Bridge-based company Eric Wright Group, through the county council’s Lancashire Regeneration Property Partnership.

The new development is being constructed on a two acre development site in a prominent location on Enterprise Drive, the main road through the former Leyland Trucks site.
