Creator of Ribble FM bows out!

The Ribble Valley’s only radio station loses its creator as she resigns her Directorship and hangs up her headphones in the Ribble Valley for the last time.

Founder of Ribble FM and well-known, local, award winning business woman, Kath Lord-Green, hands over the reins of the not-for-profit community radio station as she moves on to develop new projects.

Ribble FM CIC launched in July 2016, two years after being awarded an Ofcom licence. With Kaths dedication and the help of volunteers and huge support from both The Grand Venue Clitheroe, where the station is based, and Fort Vale Engineering, the Launch sponsor, the local area has its own dedicated station. The station has gone from strength to strength winning “Silver Station of the Year” at the Community Media Awards in its first year along with numerous other awards that followed.

Kath said “It’s extremely sad, it was my baby and it’s been an incredible journey. The past 6 years (2 developing and building and 4 years running it) have been amazing and I am immensely proud of what the station has achieved, the numerous volunteers trained, the help we’ve given to charities, the exposure for businesses and the voice we have given to local organisations.
It’s not been an easy journey at all but leaving the station is the right decision at this time and it HAS been a very hard decision to make.
I gave everything I had both physically, mentally and financially at times and I’m glad I am leaving it in good shape.
I want to thank the Board, the amazing volunteers past and present and the people of the Ribble Valley and beyond for all the support over the years from pre-build, to launch, to now – it’s been just wonderful.
I wish the team at Ribble FM all the best for the future”

Kath leaves a legacy in the Ribble Valley of a great Local Community Station and hopes that it will continue for many years to come.

Kath is currently working with large Commercial radio stations as a consultant and has recently Launched MyHappy radio online and smartphone apps, a station that provides ONLY positive news and upbeat music, along with her youngest son Jamie Green.
