ICAEW Lancashire and South Lakeland elects new leader

Robert Sheffrin has been elected president of ICAEW Lancashire and South Lakeland. A specialist in SME finance, his international career includes venture capital fund management, director of the UK Business Angels Association, adviser to governments and traditional finance roles. He is currently investment director for the Investment Readiness Programme at the University of Central Lancashire. He succeeds Neil McMillan, a partner at McMillan & Co LLP who led during 2019-2020.

As President, Robert will represent Lancashire and South Lakeland’s 1,860 members. He will also oversee the delivery of member services, including professional development courses, and technical and networking events.

Robert will be supported in this role by Deputy President Shru Morris, CEO, Napthens Solicitors.

The President and committee invited members, some of whom are celebrating 50 years of membership, to join them at their first ever virtual AGM on 14 May.

Robert said: “It is an honour to represent chartered accountants in Lancashire and South Lakeland.

“As President, I aim to raise the Institute’s profile by ensuring that members’ views are promoted effectively on accountancy and business issues.

“I also aim to build on the society’s excellent work by continuing to deliver high-quality events to support members whether in practice or business, especially those affected by the current crisis”.
