From Blackburn College Apprentice to Business and Hair Salon Owner

Former Blackburn College student Elliot Caffrey has made the journey from apprentice to hair salon owner, where he now employs two College apprentices himself.

Elliot, who attended St Bede’s Roman Catholic High School in Blackburn, has been managing his own salon and business for over a year. Elliot Caffrey Hair is located just a stone’s throw away from the College campus at 58A King Street, BB2 2DT.

Initially, he completed his Hairdressing Level 2 qualification at the Feilden Street College, before moving on to and also completing his Level 3 course.

Elliot (22) said: “I chose to attend Blackburn College because I knew they had the best hairdressing course and facilities, good opportunities and it was local to me. I really enjoyed the hands on learning approach, especially being able to work in a salon whilst gaining my qualification.

“The College helped prepare me for the future by teaching me key skills, not only hairdressing techniques but also how to run and manage a salon. I would like to say thank you to the tutors who were always on hand whenever I needed any guidance.

“Hopefully the apprentices who are currently working at Elliot Caffrey Hair are going to take a similar journey to me after they finish their studies.”
