The Guide Security Curry Club’s tribute to Robert Burns event on Tuesday 4 February at the Park Hall hotel, Charnock Richard, was an unqualified success, with comments such as “the event exceeded all my expectations”; “great turn out, good food, great company” and “loved every minute… thank you for making this an epic night for all those involved.”
The event started with a VIP reception, sponsored by CoStar Group, the leading commercial real estate information company and was followed by the piping in of the top table, led by Colonel Russell Miller OBE, Army Commander for the North West Region, who later did a memorable Address to the Chieftan, which included the cutting of the haggis and the toast
Andrew McClusky, MD, BEP Surface Technologies gave the Selkirk Grace; Richard Slater from Lancashire Business View proposed the Toast to the Ladies, taking the opportunity to encourage all the ladies present to achieve their business goals and help others to break the glass ceiling and become a company director, using top table guest, Shru Morris, CEO of Napthens, as an example. This concept was whole heartedly supported by Aziza Writer, CoStar Group, when she responded on behalf of the Ladies to the Toast.
However, the highlight of the evening, was the “Immortal Memory” speech by Kenneth Currie from Guide Security Services. The speech was funny, informative, contained quotes from Robert Burns and involved support from volunteer, Muhammad Adam, who donned a great costume of a Scottish warrior.
Commented founder, Bipin Patel: “The event was the coming together of businesses, family and friends to celebrate Scotland’s leading poet, his links with Lancashire and to demonstrate that networking can be enjoyable and lead to business opportunities, provided it is in the right setting and context.
“The organisers were indebted to the help and assistance from many Lancashire businesses towards making the evening a huge success, which only goes to show and prove what is intrinsically different and valuable about working in Lancashire – it’s all about the people and their passion to help each other.
“I would like to thank Gemma Louise Doyle, a fantastic international singer and the Lancashire Artillery Pipes and Drums 103 Regiment for providing the entertainment and Lavender Hotels for providing the appropriate location of their medieval banqueting suite at the Park Hall hotel, Charnock Richard.
“The Guide Security Curry Club attracts a diverse mixture of businesses, who fundamentally believe in promoting the benefits of diversity and inclusion, but it was the bagpipes and the performance of Auld Lang Syne that I will remember for a long time.
“All the feedback said that the event was a major success and I am delighted that we will repeat the experience on 2 February 2021.”
