CPUK celebrates 20 years in construction with £80m orders secured in 2020

Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) says 2020 is looking strong for the business with some £80 million of orders secured.

CPUK is one of the North West’s leading independent building and civil engineering companies and, in 2020, celebrates 20 years in business.

The work for the Lancashire building firm is across all sectors. “We are seeing particularly strong performance in residential, both housing and multi storey apartments, and in the industrial and logistics sectors”, says Steve Burke, CPUK’s founder and managing director.

One of CPUK’s most recent completions was 52,000 sq ft of retail space at Speke Boulevard, Liverpool, for TJ Morris, one of the biggest privately owned companies in the UK.

CPUK begins 2020 working on nine sites across the North West on projects valued from £1 million to £25 million, with a further four negotiated schemes due to start on site by the end of March.

CPUK is targeting to consolidate turnover at around £60 million per year for the next two years and currently employs 120 staff from its White Moss Business Park base in Skelmersdale.

Steve Burke says: “I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved; reaching the 20 year mark is quite a milestone and we’ll celebrate by doing what we’ve always done – sticking to our core values of integrity and total commitment to the success of our staff, customers and supply chain.”

Although the economy may still be facing some uncertain times as the UK heads towards Brexit, when it comes to construction in the North West Steve believes most people have been getting on with it.

“Certainly in the circles we move in, over the past three years we’ve not heard of any job that has been stopped because of Brexit, and from what I see and hear it looks as though it will be business as usual for us as we move forward,” Steve adds.

“I’m happy with where we are and there is a lot of work around, but we’re not interested in chasing turnover.

“We know what we’re good at and we’ve got a great mix of schemes secured with a very strong pipeline and I’m expecting 2020 to be a good year for us.

“There’s a lot of projects coming off the drawing board. The residential sector across the North West is particularly buoyant and is showing no signs of slowing down.”

CPUK enjoys an exceptional reputation in the fields of traditional and design and build construction schemes.

The group includes a Civils & Remediation division, which means the company is now offering a full in-house construction and development service to clients – from demolition and site remediation to building work – all based at CPUK’s headquarters in Skelmersdale.

CPUK Group was founded in March 2000 and the business operates from purpose-built headquarters at White Moss Business Park.

It has achieved Investors in People Status and is Constructionline and CHAS accredited for major schemes in excess of £5 million.
