The Great British Rhythm & Blue Festival returns to Colne

The 30th Anniversary of the Great British and Rhythm Festival is just around the corner, Colne Town Council is again delighted to announce continued financial support from our main sponsor Barnfield Construction Ltd.

Tim Webber Chairman and Managing Director of Barnfield Construction Ltd, long time financial supporters of the Festival said: “Since Colne Town Council took over running of the Colne Blues Festival in 2017 we have seen the festival grow even more. Bringing back the road closure and more than doubling the roadhouse venues involved has created a more vibrant atmosphere for this Festival.  With additional venues, more award-winning acts, more international artists and a weekend packed full of activity for all to enjoy, this year’s 30th Anniversary Festival is shaping up to be a great event for local people of Colne.  Barnfield Construction Ltd is pleased to be able to continue its support of the Festival and I know all attending will have a weekend some of the best blues music in the world.”

Councillor Mary Thomas, Chairman of the Blues Working Group said: “It’s through the generous support from Barnfield Construction Ltd as our main sponsor that the Festival can continue to grow and thrive in Colne. This kind of support enables Colne Town Council to organise and plan what is truly one of the largest blues festivals in Europe. The 2017 Festival was a finalist in the Lancashire Tourism award for the Small Tourism Event category and the 2017 Festival was also a finalist in the UK Blues Awards for the Blues based Festival category. The 2018 festival was a nominee in the European Blues Awards in the best event/festival category: the only UK festival to get that accolade.”

This year’s Festival is running from Friday evening 23 August through to the end of Sunday 25 August at the main venues, featuring over 170 acts on 22 stages; offering an amazing array of Blues music. Over the three evenings, the Muni features headline acts of Rufus Black, Anthony Gomes and Mike Sanchez, while the Hippodrome headlines Geoff Achinson & The UK Souldiggers, Danny Bryant Big Band, Sari Schorr & The Engine Room.
