Preston Flag Market to host two headline events on the same day

The city’s Flag Market will play host to two headline events on Saturday 22 June, ‘Preston Rocks’ and ‘Prestfest’.

‘Preston Rocks’ with TV personality Mark Wright takes place from 12noon with catwalk shows across the afternoon, featuring spring’s must have looks, whatever your age, from some of the city centre’s best fashion outlets, both national and independent.

Mark Wright is one of the most popular TV faces in the UK. With projects including ‘The Bachelor’, ‘The Gossip’, ITV1’s ‘Surprise Surprise’, building hideaways for kids on CBBC’s ‘Dengineers’ and getting you ready for a night out with his former national Club Classics radio show each weekend.

Mark is also the host of ‘Take Me Out: The Gossip’, the highly popular companion show to the hit ITV1 dating show ‘Take Me Out’.

He has also launched his own range of fragrances, ‘Mr Wright’ for the guys and ‘Mrs Right’ for the ladies and is one of the best dressed men in showbiz, regularly featuring in Europe’s hottest magazines and is often credited in the beauty press for supporting and encouraging people to take time with their appearance.

The free event, sponsored by St George’s Shopping Centre, will also feature a live soundtrack from house-band ‘Boomin’.

Mark Whittle from Preston BID said: “Working in support of the city’s leisure and retail businesses, we’ve put together two huge events to promote our city and its businesses, bringing together thousands of people to celebrate our award-winning offer.”

Centre Manager from St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer added: “We are delighted to once again be part Preston Rocks, a headline event for the city. The brands under our roof are perfect for this event, with a vibrant, fashion-forward style and we are confident visitors will see something for them in the show. We look forward to welcoming event-goers into St George’s to meet friends, shop for the outfits showcased during the show and grab a bite to eat.”

Mark Wright, who’s visited Preston before, said: “I love the city, it’s a lively and friendly place, I am looking forward to joining everyone on June 22nd to show the people of Preston some of the hottest looks for guys and girls this spring.”

From 6.30pm the Flag Market will become a concert arena as international performers including iconic DJ David Morales, Judge Jules and Felix Da Housecat, take to the stage for a festival-feel show. The event will also feature well-known local DJ’s including Mark Freejack and Chris Hunter.

Andrew Forster from ‘Preston at Night’, the BID group which is staging Prestfest, said: “Last year’s event was great, we’ve been working together to make this year’s event stronger by strengthening the line-up and bringing in some credible international DJ’s for a huge show.”

“We’re looking forward to a great night and would encourage people to get along to Prestfest and enjoy Preston.”
