Leyland Based Bleep UK PLC Deploy EPOS & Payments Solution at Wimbledon 2018

Bleep UK PLC deployed their award-winning event EPOS and Payment solution for the retail operation at Wimbledon 2018.

Running from the 2nd to the 15th July, over 50 Bleep TS-915 EPOS terminals were installed at Wimbledon, each with built-in barcode scanners, customer facing video displays and integrated Ingenico iPP350’s for seamless, fast and secure card payments. The Bleep POS Media customer displays were all showing a selection of Wimbledon produced promotional videos from their ‘Pursuit of Excellence’ marketing campaign, helping to engage customers at the point of sale. The entire estate linked to Bleep’s Back Office software to cover all stock control and reporting needs.

The site setup for 2018 differed slightly to last year, with three large shops, the Centre Court Shop, the No.1 Court Shop and the Museum Shop, with a further 7 express kiosks dotted around the estate. There was also an offsite pop-up shop in Wimbledon village also stocking a wide range of products and a central offsite warehouse for bulk storage.

The onsite retail stores at the All England Lawn Tennis Club sold a range of exclusive merchandise and apparel, including Championship towels, Wimbledon fashion, Ralph Lauren clothing, balls and accessories and a wide assortment of gifts and souvenirs. Personalisation of items such as towels and caps was also offered, which was a first for 2018. This was processed through the Bleep EPOS software, with embroidery tickets being produced both for the embroiderer, to instruct what is required, and the customer, for when they collected their personalised goods.

Another new feature for 2018 was that hospitality guests could order merchandise from The Gatsby Club, the official hospitality area. This was done via the service clerks, whom placed orders via an EPOS terminal, which then emailed the retail office team directly, with items then taken directly to the customer.

Phil Chapman, Retail Divisional Manager at Bleep UK PLC stated, “It is always an honour to work with Wimbledon and supply the biggest tennis event of the year with our award-winning and leading, event retail EPOS and Payment solution. We are dedicated to retail innovation and excellence, ensuring we can cater for the retail operations of high profile sporting events, like this one, and this is why we are constantly asked back year-on-year.”

“Bleep were selected for this project due to our ability to supply a solution which met the organisers exact needs. One which boasted a speedy service, secure payments and the ability to provide real time, accurate sales and stock reporting to maximise sales revenue and spend per head.”

July has been a busy month for Bleep, with a number of high profile events including Wimbledon, Latitude Festival, the British F1 Grand Prix, the Tour de France and The Open Golf Championship. Earlier this month, Bleep was also crowned the ‘Multi-Channel Technology Vendor of the Year’ at the 2018 Retail Systems Awards.
