Team Petty complete tough double header

Last weekend saw local estate agents Petty complete a mammoth double header, completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday and then the Burnley 10k on Sunday.

On Saturday a group of 8 employees from Petty, who are celebrating 90 years in 2018, climbed the Yorkshire three Peaks in exceptionally hot weather.  The walk known as one of the toughest walks in the UK, is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent with walkers attempting to complete the task within 12 hours. The Petty team, even in the hot weather conditions, managed to complete it in just over 10hours.

Ian Bythell Residential Director at Petty’s and veteran Three Peaks walker said:” It was certainly one of the toughest Three Peaks I’ve been involved in so it made the effort by the Petty team even more remarkable.”

Then with less than twenty four hours to recover two of the team, Ian Bythell and Jo Applegate ran the Burnley 10k on Sunday, both completing the run in just over one hour.

This double header of events was all done as part of Petty’s Corporate Challenge in aid of Pendleside Hospice. The challenge sees businesses compete to raise money for Pendleside Hospice after an initial £50 given to them by the hospice. Its then up to the companies involved to turn that into as much money as possible in a four month period (1st June-30th September).

Ian said “This is such a great initiative by the hospice and we’re really proud to represent our patch as the area’s only chosen Relocation Agent Local Experts. We’ve already done quite a few events as part of the Challenge and have many more lined up including a Charity night at The Fence Gate, but I’m hoping none are going to be as tough as this weekend!”

Christina Cope, from Pendleside Hospice, added: “We’re really grateful to have had a number of prominent local businesses like Petty’s taking part in the challenge and getting so much commitment from all their members of staff. This has been a great effort from Petty’s and its fundraising events like these that allow us to continue the work the hospice does in helping people living with a life-limiting illness”
