A six-strong team of colleagues from HMRC’s Preston-based Customer Services Group raised £1,200 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation by successfully completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
It took Dan Alvarez, who organised the trek, Matt Pope, Ceri Kay, Lauren Brindle, Steve Wignall and Chris Conlon just over 10 hours to achieve the 1,532m total ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, which also involves a 39km circular trek.
The group’s effort followed an Easter egg raffle held back in the office in St Mary’s Street that raised £130 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation and which launched the start of a six-month partnership between a group of HMRC staff and the charity that will lead to further fundraising events over the coming months.
Cathy Skidmore, Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s Trust & Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: “We are very grateful to Dan and the team at HMRC for choosing us as their charity partner for the next six months.
“I know staff are making plans for some exciting events and they can be assured we will do whatever we can to support them in their fundraising.”
Dan said: “Rosemere Cancer Foundation was chosen by a number of colleagues within HRMC Customer Service group after wanting to support a local charity that benefits people from across Lancashire.
“Not only are we helping the charity raise funds for its 20 years Anniversary Appeal, but we recognise the benefits to self-wellbeing through volunteering our own time to fundraising and supporting the local community. It is proving to be very rewarding.”
