Preston-based law firm Napthens has opened an office in Liverpool – its first in the city.
The office, based in the well-known Plaza building on Old Hall Street, is set to open two years after the firm first opened in Merseyside, with its office in Southport.
The Southport office, and the arrival of high-profile Liverpool corporate lawyer Gareth McIntegart at the firm in 2016, has enabled the firm to expand its service offering in the region.
Shru Morris, chief executive of Napthens, explained that Liverpool’s strategy for growth, combined with Napthens’ strong connections in the area meant the time was right to open an office in the city and said the move would provide a foundation for further growth in the region.
She said: “The Liverpool city region has developed into one of the UK’s leading business destinations – and we want to be part of that success story.
“Over the past two years, we have actively developed relationships with the local business community, particularly through Gareth’s connections across the region. As our client base and professional connections in the area have expanded, there is a need for Napthens to have a greater presence and therefore an office in the city.”
Gareth McIntegart, who has been part of the city’s business and professional community for over 20 years and previously held senior positions at DLA Piper and DWF, will lead the Liverpool office.
He said: “Napthens brings a clear, high calibre alternative to the local market. We believe there is a gap in the market for an innovative law firm to offer the range of services and expertise that Napthens can provide, combined with the high level of service for which we are renowned.
“We have identified that many businesses want a new type of legal partner – one that is focused on long-term relationships and delivering excellent client service but which also has the breadth and depth of expertise you would expect from any ‘big city’ law firm. We believe we give businesses that option.
“It’s an exciting time for Napthens and I’m looking forward to playing my part in driving the firm’s plans for growth in the region.”
