Started in 2016 in Lancaster, The Growing Club CIC is a business growth programme helping educate budding female entrepreneurs in how to succeed when starting their own business.
The Club has recently moved to the Women and Enterprise Hub, which was launched in March 2018, as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations. It is also celebrating the recent award of £26.5k from the Walney Extension Community Fund for its start up support programme.
The Growing Club CIC helps women in the local area learn more about business and refine their skills. They offerpre-start up, start up and business growth training, helping sustain businesses for economic growth and community wellbeing.
So far, 50 women, from all over the North-West, have taken part in the female focussed growth programme.
Jane Binnion, Director, The Growing Club CIC, said: “We believe that investing in women’s capabilities and skills is vitally important. At The Growing Club, women from all walks of life are given the opportunity to learn how to grow their own business and succeed.
“We started in 2016 as a group of five local women directors, with a £10k grant. From this small beginning, we have gone on to help women across the North-West, from a range of communities, focus on becoming the best they can.
“Our aim is to continue to grow and already this year, we have applied for funding to run a rolling programme, employing part-time staff and an apprentice. This latest grant will help us meet these funding needs.”
