Vincents lays down Colour Dash challenge

Vincents Solicitors is set to enter a team into this April’s Garstang Colour Dash, and bosses are hoping other local firms will follow suit. Several businesses in the town and the local Rotary Club will also be out in force on Sunday April 22, helping to pelt runners with powder at the colour stations and marshal the route.

Vincents, which is headline sponsor for the event, has now laid down the challenge to other local businesses to enter a team, and see who can raise the most money. There will even be a prize for the winning business, a big brightly coloured cake for the whole team to enjoy.

Lisa Lodge, head of Vincents Garstang branch, is already in training for the 5km fun run. She said: “This is going to be an amazing event for the whole community to enjoy while raising money for a really good cause. What better opportunity to get involved than to enter as a team and work together to bring in as much sponsorship money as possible.

“I am throwing down the gauntlet to the businesses of Garstang, and I’m prepared to put up a tasty treat as a prize for the winning team. Obviously it’s all just for fun, but it would be really fantastic for the businesses of this town to really pull out all of the stops to support this great event.”

Lisa is holding a coffee morning briefing for local businesses and members of the public to come along and hear more about the Colour Dash event, and the work of St John’s Hospice from fundraiser manager Jo Humphrey.  The event is being held at the Garstang Booths coffee shop on Friday, April 6, at 11am.

Every business wanting to be in with a chance of winning the cake should email their team name, participants names and, following the event, the total they have raised, to the same address.

Jo Humphrey from St John’s is delighted with the way the town’s business community has already got behind the event. In addition to Vincents’ headline sponsorship, the four colour stations en route are being sponsored by the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Centre, Display Wizard, Towers + Gornall, and Nationwide Building Society, all of which will be attending the coffee briefing.

Jo said: “We have five local businesses sponsoring the Colour Dash itself, which shows incredible generosity and community spirit. It would be incredible to see this supplemented with teams from the different shops, offices and other companies, coming together in friendly competition.”

The fun run, which involves entrants being pelted with brightly coloured powder at intervals along the route, is being staged in Garstang for the first time by the hospice, which provides palliative care to people with life shortening conditions in the surrounding area, from Kendal in the north to Garstang in the south.

The race will start from Cherestanc Square outside Booths and follow a 5km route across the river, around Greenhalgh Castle and back to the starting point.
