Northern Industrial up for national award

Blackburn-based industrial automation spare parts and repair supplier Northern Industrial has made the finals of a national industry awards.

The Shadsworth company, which exports to over 130 countries, is on the shortlist for Distributor of the Year at the Motion Control Industry Awards 2018.

Motion control is an essential part of industrial automation covering any process that helps machinery parts move in a controlled manner.  The MCI Awards recognise the achievements of motion control companies and individuals in the UK and are recognised as the country’s leading awards for motion control and automation engineering.

Northern Industrial recently celebrated a record year for turnover and profits and currently employs 40 office staff and over 30 electronic engineers, with further expansion planned.

Already exporting to 132 countries, the family-owned company is a multi-award-winning provider of new, reconditioned and obsolete parts and repair services, sourcing from over 1,350 manufacturers, covering over 200,000 part numbers and holding approximately £7m in stock.

Managing director David Lenehan said: “We are extremely pleased to have made the finals in these highly prestigious industry awards.  Although probably little known to those outside of industry, motion control is a key part British manufacturing, with a huge role in maintaining the competitiveness of British manufactured products.

“I’m immensely proud of our entire team here in Blackburn, whose commitment and dedication has put us on this national shortlist of the very best companies in the industry.”

The winners, decided by a secret ballot of industry expert judges, will be revealed at a gala dinner in Birmingham on Tuesday 10th April.
