Burnley Cancer charity CARES recently organised a trolley dash at the TESCO Extra store in Burnley. Kindly sponsored by Worsthorne Brewing Co Ltd, the event was a great success and raised a grand total of £600 for CARES and the local community.
The lucky trolley dash winner was drawn from a raffle organised in the run up to the event. Local man David Burton won the opportunity to fill up a TESCO trolley with as many goodies from the local store as possible in 2 minutes to the value of £150!
David from Colne, said of his lucky win “I was delighted when I got the call from CARES to say I’d won the trolley dash. I can’t remember the last time I won anything, it really gave me a lift!”
“We were delighted with the amount raised from the event”, commented Natalie Bohane and Sharon Froggatt from local charity CARES. “We’ve had lots of support from local businesses recently and the trolley dash event was no exception, with Worsthorne Brewery kindly sponsoring the value of the goods in the trolley and TESCO Community Champion – Billie Jean supporting our event in our local TESCO Extra store. We really can’t thank them enough”.
Local Cancer charity CARES, based at the CVS Centre in Burnley is raising money to open a drop-in style support centre for people concerned about Cancer, raising awareness of the importance of early diagnosis. The charity’s first ‘awareness raising event’ will run in the coming weeks at the CVS centre in Burnley.
