Andrew takes the reins as Commercial Director for Redrow Homes in Lancashire

Redrow Homes (Lancashire) has announced the appointment of new commercial director, Andrew Farley.

Andrew, from Chorley, takes over from Phil Heaps who is retiring from the role after 40 years with the company.

While acknowledging he has a hard act to follow, the 42-year-old is relishing the prospect of a fresh and exciting challenge: “It’s a new chapter in my career and one I’m looking forward to,” he says. “Phil has done an incredible job and it’s down to me now to build on that.”

Andrew was formerly commercial director at Wainhomes (NW) Ltd, serving a total of 15 years with the company, and also had spells with PH Property Holdings and Crosby Homes.

One of the biggest factors in Andrew accepting the position was his being so impressed with the company and the high values it sets itself.  Andrew says: “I was attracted to Redrow as a company because of its commitment to a quality product, the highest construction standards and excellent customer service.”

And he adds: “It also has a very strong and stable board of directors within its Lancashire division of which I’m delighted to now be a part.”

Every new home the developer builds costs money and it is the job of Andrew and his commercial team to make sure that money is spent wisely. In the initial phases of a project it’s their job to estimate final costs, as well as purchase materials and engage sub-contractor services.

Once work is underway they have to ensure the build continues to budget.

An early interest in building and architectural design prompted Andrew’s career direction and subsequent progression, as he developed an enthusiasm for cost estimating and management.

Andrew, who is married with three children and will be based at the company’s Buckshaw Village offices, continues: “My task at Redrow will be to maintain procurement availability, quality and cost levels, while building on and enhancing supplier and contractor relations, supported of course by the experienced commercial department at the Lancashire division.

“The future looks positive in the sense of Redrow’s land acquisition strategy across the North West.  Competition is strong in the North West but this is where the Redrow product and philosophy will set us apart.”
