Longridge lawyers advise proper planning 

Vincents to join Raymond James for inheritance tax event

Older people and couples worried about losing their property to care home fees are encouraged to find out more about protecting their assets at a seminar in Lancashire next week. Other aspects of inheritance tax planning will also be discussed during the event being held at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel near Chipping on Thursday November 9.

Lawyers from Vincents Solicitors have been invited to speak at the event organised by Raymond James financial advisors. Vincents’ Lisa Lodge and Rebecca Perkes will talk guests through the plans they should be putting in place regarding wills, probate, trusts and Lasting Power of Attorney.

Lisa Lodge, head of Vincents Garstang office, said: “It is understandable that people want to leave as much as they can to their loved ones, but many homeowners fear they’ll be penalised if they have to go into care. There are some straightforward measures to reduce the amount that has be paid out of the value of the property, to help ensure their family receives the benefit of their life’s work.

“I hope guests will get a lot from the seminar, and we’re so pleased the team at Raymond James has invited us to take part. It will also be an opportunity for people to meet Rebecca who has recently moved from the Garstang team to head up private client services in Longridge. Rebecca is a great people person and has years’ of experience helping people deal with difficult tasks like their wills, probate, trusts and LPAs.”

Gary Ward, head of financial planning at Longridge-based Raymond James, will be looking at the ways inheritance tax can impact on families, couples and single people, and discussing ways of reducing the burden.

He added: “Unfortunately people can get caught out simply by not having planned adequately, and it can leave loved ones unnecessarily out of pocket. This seminar is designed to help people understand how inheritance tax works, how they will be affected, and what they can do to minimise the impact. It is open to anyone and there will be drinks and canapes on arrival.”
