Every day brings a new experience for trainees on a ground-breaking programme at AFC Fylde Community Foundation.
As part of the Striking Futures programme, the young adults get to enjoy a host of new activities first-hand.
Working in partnership with Virtual Learning UK (VLUK) and supported by Cuadrilla and Centrica, the Foundation’s latest wave of trainees are officially underway and enjoying all the programme has to offer.
Most recently, accompanied by a visit from the programme supporters Cuadrilla, the Foundation invited the trainees to Mill Farm, the home of AFC Fylde, to experience their first match day with the club and get involved in the exciting activities on offer.
The trainees enjoyed the football match and went on the pitch at half time. They put their new skills to the test by helping the Foundation team run half time activities for local grassroots football teams and players. Whilst on the pitch, the new trainees demonstrated their new coaching abilities and showed the new-found confidence they have developed since joining the innovative course.
Foundation Director Tom Hutton is proud of the start the new trainees have made on the course and said: “To see the new cohort of trainees begin their journey with us and make such a tremendous start is a fantastic feeling for myself and my team. They are making such great progress every day and I’m confident the momentum will continue and they’ll all go on to greater things.
“The support from Cuadrilla and Centrica is crucial to this programme and I’m grateful they allow us to continue working with young adults in the community through our educational programmes.”
