Preston business saves Birmingham’s Millennium Point

Local window film experts have solved major health and safety concerns at Birmingham’s Millennium Point.

Market leaders, Lustalux, were challenged with finding a solution after Nickel Sulphide Inclusions in the building’s facade raised concerns over spontaneous breakage.

According to Millennium Point’s website, the building is the ‘largest landmark millennium project’ outside of London and welcomes over one million visitors every year.

Opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002, owners of the £114m building invited Lustalux to tender for the work late last year. Home to some of Birmingham’s major institutions including colleges and universities, Millennium Point established Lustalux as the most reputable firm to provide suitable, effective protection from spontaneous glass breakage.

Peter Robinson, Millennium Point’s Healthy & Safety Manager praised the work: “I would like to thank Lustalux for the completed works in regards to the window filming project at our site. The project was delivered safely, without any unforeseen disruption and in a timely manner.”

After treating almost 4,000 square metres of glass and finishing the critical demands of the Millennium Point project a whole two weeks ahead of schedule, Lustalux’s Managing Director Richard Lancaster said: “We have an incredibly efficient team of skilled operatives here at Lustalux which is why we were able to complete the work so promptly. It was by no means a straightforward project – but with the right team, equipment and working practices we were able to ensure smooth delivery of the work that exceeded the client’s expectations.”
