Blackpool-based marketing agency Happy Creative is behind the latest display currently lighting up Blackpool Illuminations.
One of Happy’s clients, the Blackpool Fairness Commission, asked the agency to help raise awareness of a brand new butterfly mural for the world famous lights.
The Butterfly Effect was switched on by Dancing On Ice champion Daniel Whiston at a press event organised and marketed by Happy Creative’s PR department last week.
Blackpool is the UK’s only butterfly ambassador after linking up with San Diego-based artist Tasha Wahl whose inspirational idea has raised thousands for charities across the globe.
Miss Wahl’s Butterfly Effect movement promotes generosity in communities all over the world and is modelled on Edward Lorenz’s Butterfly Effect theory that even the softest flutter of a wing can set off a chain reaction which can amplify a major change.
The Fairness Commission was chosen due its work in the local community, encouraging acts of kindness and bringing people together to make Blackpool a kinder place to live and work.
Happy worked with its client and Blackpool Council’s Illuminations department on the design of the butterfly in which visitors are encouraged to become the body, take photos and spread the word via social media using the hashtag #BPLIlluminations #BeTheChange and #Whal2Wall
The display is also being sponsored by another of Happy’s clients, Houndshill Shopping Centre, who are running a competition on the back of the marketing campaign.
Karen Lambert, managing director of Happy Creative, said: “Blackpool Illuminations is the backbone of the resort’s tourism industry in autumn and to help light up with an amazing addition like The Butterfly Effect is great to be a part of.
“The campaign closely reflects what Happy stands for in spreading kindness and happiness in everything we do.”
Blackpool Illuminations are on every night until 5 November and The Butterfly Effect can be found at the Enchanted Garden in North Shore on the six-mile route.
