North West recruitment experts restructure to meet increasing demands

In response to growing permanent job opportunities in the North West, one of the UK’s leading specialist recruitment agencies, Acorn, has restructured and recruited a number of specialist recruitment consultants to meet the increasing demands of employers in the area.

With unemployment rates as low as 4.7% in some places, the lowest since 1975, Acorn has responded to ensure they continue to find, and place, the right employees for businesses all over the North West.

Olwen Kilgannon, who has been with Acorn for over 11 years, has been promoted from Widnes Branch Manager to Divisional Manager, now overseeing and supporting companies and jobseekers with their Permanent Recruitment needs for the whole of the North West.

As part of this restructure, Olwen will now manage a team of Senior Permanent Consultants; Hayley Cooke and new recruit Sophie Cosgrove. All are specialists in senior, permanent recruitment within the commercial, manufacturing, engineering, chemical, procurement and logistics industries.

Speaking about her new team and the increased opportunities in the area, Olwen said: “It’s an exciting time to be in recruitment, and particularly at Acorn. Businesses across the North West have some serious recruitment plans, and I’m glad that I’ve been able to respond by developing my role to focus solely on permanent recruitment, and of course to build a strong team to ensure that Acorn continues to support the growth of these companies as they look for permanent staff.

“Over the last few months, we’ve seen an increase in permanent roles like Engineers, Manufacturing professionals, Supply Chain Specialists, and Sales and Business Development Executives and Managers, which provide great career opportunities for people in the area.

“I’ve worked with Hayley for many years and have always admired her passion and determination for the work she does, and I’m also delighted that Sophie has decided to join us, already within weeks she has shown that she shares Acorn’s vision for creating value for everyone we work with.

“Whilst based in Widnes, we travel across a number of the Acorn branches throughout the North West, including Preston and Crewe, which allows us to remain local to our existing customers, while we’re simultaneously developing our expert service further afield in Liverpool and Manchester.

Christian Ash, North Regional Manager, added: “With Olwen, Hayley and Sophie’s combined expertise and knowledge, the North West is in good hands. I know we’ll continue to provide a recruitment service to both job seekers and employers that is over and above anything offered by other suppliers in the area.

“And of course, our North West and North Wales Recruitment Teams are part of a bigger, UK-wide recruitment support offering that Acorn provides, as in total we have over 34 branches and on-site locations throughout the UK and specialise in a number of industries including Commercial, Engineering, Construction, IT& Digital, Executive Search, Legal Nursing & Healthcare and Industrial & Logistics.”
