MORE LANCASHIRE TEENS TO GET ACTIVE THANKS TO RUSTLERS’ SUPPORT

Up to 4,000 secondary school pupils in Lancashire will benefit from a new partnership between Rustlers and AFC Fylde Community Foundation, which is set to launch this month.

The collaboration between the Kirkham-based food manufacturer and the Foundation aims to increase participation in physical activity for 16 – 24 year olds throughout Preston, Blackpool and Fylde.

Over the next 12 months, coaches from the Foundation will deliver fun activity sessions, covering a range of sports from football and cricket to athletics and netball.

Coaches will deliver activity to eligible participants free of charge, at a range of selected secondary schools, colleges, after school clubs and youth clubs across the region, when outreach starts later this month.

The sessions have been made possible due to a £6,000 grant from Rustlers, with its colleagues also attending the sessions to engage with the wider community, present awards to participants and talk about its factory in Kirkham.

James Grimston, factory manager for Rustlers in Kirkham said; “It’s a great opportunity to work with AFC Fylde on their forward thinking project via its Community Foundation, and help increase participation in sport throughout the local area.”

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “When it comes to making a difference to the lives of young people, AFC Fylde Community Foundation is truly leading the way.

“Thanks to the support of Rustlers, we’ll be able to engage with even more children and young adults than ever before, improving their health and wellbeing through physical activity.”
