Age UK Lancashire on the move…

Local older people’s charity Age UK Lancashire has moved from their St Thomas’s Road, Chorley head office after 14 years of being based there.  The charity has taken a more proactive approach and is currently working on relocating to a more central location on Market Street, Chorley.  Their existing Lifestyle centre on Gillibrand Street, Chorley is also developing into more of an information hub for people to drop in and find out about services and support.

A spokesperson said: “With our lease coming to an end we decided to review the way people reach out to us in Chorley so took the decision to locate ourselves closer to the town centre to make ourselves more accessible.  We are currently finalising a lease on a unit in Market Street so are using our Lifestyle Centre on Gillibrand Street as a walk in information hub, where people can find out about support and services as well as come in for insurance and home adaptations”.

The charity is developing new services and has just launched a Veterans project aimed at supporting older veterans, their family members and carers to access support and groups they can benefit from.  Their popular foot care, home help and dementia community links projects are still operating and the Lifestyle Centre is open 5 days a week providing hot food, activities and classes.  Enquiries about any services and support can be made by calling 0300 303 1234 or visiting the Lifestyle Centre, Gillibrand Street, Chorley.

The spokesperson said: “In what has been a difficult couple of years we feel this move is really positive and hope we can reach out to more older people who need our support.  Chorley has a great community spirit and we hope by moving closer to the centre we will be able to add value to the town and support those who need us most”.

Age UK Lancashire will be announcing their new premises in the coming weeks and are encouraging anyone who needs support to visit their Lifestyle Centre on Gillibrand Street or telephone them on 0300 303 1234.
