HomeServe celebrates £68,000 charity fundraising efforts

From Sky dives and car washes to half marathons and bake sales, HomeServe People have been working hard during the past year to raise more than £30,000 for local charitable organisations

HomeServe Membership this year agreed to match fund employees’ charitable totals taking donation funding to £68,000

Big-hearted staff from home assistance provider HomeServe Membership marked a major fundraising milestone by sharing afternoon tea with a range of charities from across the UK.

The charitable fundraising celebrations formed part of a week-long spotlight on the company’s People and charities from all over the UK were invited to attend the first ever celebration event at HomeServe’s Walsall headquarters and collect the money raised on their behalf.

HomeServe People from all five of the company’s UK office locations – Walsall, Preston, Nottingham, Banbury and London – joined their charitable partners to hand over more than £30,000 they had raised themselves, plus match funding from HomeServe taking the tally to £68,000.

From a car wash and a summer festival to a charity cricket match and collection boxes, the HomeServe Preston team has worked hard over the past year to raise cash the North West Blood Bikes and the team handed over a cheque for £5,653 at the event. The blood bikes team provides a voluntary out of hours’ transport service for local NHS hospitals by carrying emergency blood, samples, donor breast milk and patient notes by motorcycles between hospitals.

John Greaves, Brand Director, at HomeServe, said: “Supporting our local communities is so important to HomeServe. Our People regularly volunteer and give their time to help causes close to their heart.

“A year ago, we asked departments across the business to choose a charity to put their fundraising efforts behind and the response has been absolutely phenomenal. Our first celebration event was the chance to see first-hand the organisations our People have helped, and it was a really special day.”

The donations will help fund a range of causes, including £4,737 for new personal life safety equipment for a member of the Midlands Air Ambulance crew, more than £10,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s ‘The Star’ Appeal, and a year’s worth of fuel for the Midlands Free Wheelers (worth around £6,000) to enable them to provide emergency blood bikes for the NHS.
