Bunch of business friends raise £3,500 for national charity

A 72-hole golf challenge, organised by Andy Kirkby, from Preston based Coolbreeze AC and Blake Greaves from Blackpool Educational Diversity, turned out to be one of the longest days in their lives!! But it was all worth it, since they helped raise £3,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

“Each year, a few of us get together to raise funds for a local charity and this year, we organised the ‘longest day golf challenge’, involving twelve friends, at Fishwick Hall Golf Club in July” said Andy. “Each of us played four rounds in one day, starting at 5am and finishing at 9.30pm, taking between 320 and 400 shots each and we estimate that we walked about 26 miles!!

“It is the third year, we have done this challenge, each year at a different golf course. We all nominate a charity and select the most popular. This year it was MNDA, which because a relative suffers from this, was very close to my heart, particularly since there is no known cure.

“Thanks to all the lads who took part and especially for the support from their companies: Coolbreeze, RBS Group, AXIA Insurance and Blackpool Educational Diversity. We are absolutely delighted to have raised £3,500 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“Once we have got over the pain, I am sure we will start looking forward to doing the challenge again next summer.”
