Currency Matters raise £10,000 for Variety

International foreign currency exchange company ‘Currency Matters’ based in Ormskirk, celebrated 15 years in business by hosting a Charity Golf Day and Gala Evening to raise funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity on Thursday 15th June at Hurlston Hall Golf Club.

Over 60 plus golfers joined ‘Currency Matters’ for breakfast followed by a shotgun start 4-ball for the afternoon.

A few very familiar faces in the sporting world such as Steve McMahon, Roy Evans, Joe Royle, Ronnie Whelan, Alan Kennedy, Phil Neal, Callum Smith, Liam Smith, Leon Osman, Stephen Warnock, Nick Chadwick and Derek Mountfield turned up to support the Charity Golf Day and to play in teams for Currency Matters.

On the wonderful sunny afternoon, the golfers enjoyed refreshments sponsored by ‘Investec’.

The Gala Evening commenced with a game of heads and tails, followed by a wonderful 3-course dinner. There was also a fantastic auction of sporting memorabilia, a raffle and some fabulous entertainment by top comedian ‘Jamie Sutherland’ and the amazing soul singer ‘Steve Charles’.

The Charity Golf Day organised by Karen Bickerstaffe (who is on the Merseyside Committee for Variety, The Children’s Charity) and Toby Robinson both of Currency Matters raised £10k for local children.

Jon Anderson, Director of Currency Matters said:

“I am very proud to support such a wonderful Charity whilst celebrating our 15th year in business. My thanks go to ‘Investec’ for their wonderful support and sponsorship and all the tee sponsors for their kind support. I would like to thank Karen and Toby for putting together such a wonderful event and to all our friends who joined us for a superb Golf Day.”
