Fat Media scoop Best Employer of the Year

A Lancashire-based digital marketing agency is rejoicing after the firm took home the award for Best Employer of the Year at the Lancashire Business Awards (LBA’s).

Fat Media beat off stiff competition to reach the finals and take the coveted award, which is recognition of their commitment to staff and to nurturing youth talent in the region.

The triumph comes after the firm announced its largest graduate in-take across all its regional offices this year. The graduate scheme has run for nine years and is aimed at supporting young people to develop careers in the digital sector.

The LBA’s are created by North West business organisation, Downtown In Business and this year saw hundreds turn out for ‘A Game of Thrones’ themed ceremony at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Blackburn.

Emma Bowden, HR & talent manager at Fat Media, who accepted the award on the night said: “We are so excited to win this award as recruiting new employees and nurturing existing and new talent is an integral part of the agency. As an employer, when new recruits join us we are committed to helping them discover the right path at Fat Media, matching key personality traits and aspirations to their perfect role. It’s also a testament to the agency that we have a large percentage of long-standing Fat Media employees, something we hope to keep!”

Frank McKenna, chief executive of Downtown in Business, said on the awards: “The calibre of nominees at this year’s Lancashire Business Awards demonstrates the breadth of ambition across the county. Lancashire continues to maintain steady economic growth, which is a testament to the efforts of a determined business community.”

The award comes after a very successful year for the agency including its client work being recognised as finalists in the upcoming SPARKies, The Big Chip Awards and The Drum RAR Digital Awards.
