Agency welcomes senior ‘fattie’ to the team

Lancaster-based digital marketing agency Fat Media has appointed a new digital design director to front the firm’s design teams across its regional offices.

Darren Wilson has joined the design and development team where he will be implementing and overseeing current and future design projects for some of the country’s biggest brands; including Lakeland and Hallmark Hotels.

Bringing with him over 25 years of industry expertise, Darren has previously worked with national brands and broadcast outlets including Red Bull, BBC, Wrangler and Sky Sports. As director, Darren will lead the entire design team including digital, brand, print and user experience (UX) specialists. His role will involve the constant oversight, advice and direction of the work being produced in the agency’s Lancaster, Bristol and London offices.

Managing director at Fat Media, John French said: “It has been a fantastic year for Fat Media, we’ve seen our headcount increase by more than 40% and our investment in staff continues with the senior appointment of Darren.”

John added: “Darren will make a great addition to the management team, playing a key role in becoming Fat Media’s design department ambassador and front the already established hard-working, creative ethos of the team. We look forward to Darren’s experienced take on directing and implementing design briefs across our vast client portfolio.”

Darren’s role will extend to making sure all designs adhere to client goals and ensure his team are early adopters of the latest design and technology trends.

Darren said: “I’m thrilled with my new appointment and more than ready to get stuck in with the varied major design work at hand. I’ve followed Fat Media’s progress and growth for many years and always been in awe of the high standards of work they produce time after time. I want to maintain these high standards across the team and also keep us ahead of the curve with design styles and technologies. This would maintain the Fat Media ethos of delivering the very best products to our clients, knowing that each business objective we identified will be achieved.

“It’s really important to create strong individual relationships with the team and from this; I aim to champion collaboration with all Fat Media departments. This is a fantastic move for my career and it’s a privilege to be part of the Fat Media team.”

In recognition of Fat Media’s success and commitment to nurturing its current and new talent, the agency has been shortlisted for three Lancashire in Business Awards, including best employer of the year, best digital agency of the year and employee of the year for their business development director, Martika Mingins.
