Businesses invited to engage with University talent at free events

Lancashire businesses are being invited to meet the county’s freshest creative talent at a series of free events being held by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

The Lancashire Arts Festival is a programme of degree shows, performances and events to celebrate UCLan students’ creative talent.

As part of the festival, businesses will have the opportunity to meet students, course tutors and key colleagues from UCLan’s careers, placement and partnership development teams at a business networking lunch on Friday June 9 at Venue 53 from 12pm – 3pm. There’ll also be the chance to take guided tours around a particular area of interest.

On Thursday June 15, the UCLan Fashion Show will take place at Venue 53 from 6.30pm – 9pm, where businesses will be able to scout fresh graduate talent as fashion students showcase work they previewed at Graduate Fashion Week in London.

In addition, Preston’s Harris Museum and Art Gallery will play host to the official opening of the Lancashire Arts Festival Awards Exhibition on June 21 between 5.30pm – 7.30pm, a showcase of final year students’ work which has been shortlisted for the festival’s awards.

Attendees will hear from special guest speaker Patrick Grant, creative director of Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons and judge on BBC Two’s The Great British Sewing Bee.

Dr Andrew Ireland, Executive Dean of UCLan’s Faculty of Culture and the Creative Industries, said: “These free events are the perfect opportunities for the county’s businesses to meet with the latest, fresh creative talent from the University. Whether you’re looking to recruit graduates, develop your workforce or access expertise, we’d welcome you to come along and explore what’s on offer.”

Advance booking for the events is essential and can be done through the following links: https://uclannetworkinglunch.eventbrite.co.uk, https://uclanfashionshow.eventbrite.co.uk, https://uclanexhibition.eventbrite.co.uk.
