Napthens hands over charity funds

Regional law firm Napthens has handed over more than £10,000 to local good causes following a year of fundraising.

The firm’s East Lancashire office supported the Blackburn Youth Zone, a charity which works to change the prospects of children in the area.  Napthens raised £2,119 from fundraising activities and as sponsors of the annual clay pigeon shoot, helped the Youth Zone raise another £7,000 during the year.

Staff in Preston raised £3,068 for the North West Air Ambulance; and in Blackpool £2,070 was raised for Aspired Futures which provides long-term therapeutic services for vulnerable children and young people.

In Kendal and Penrith, the Cumbria Community Foundation was handed £3,500 to help with its good work.

Napthens has also confirmed the local good causes it will support for 2017/18.

Napthens’ Preston office will raise funds for Chorley-based Derian House Children Hospice, which provides palliative, specialist respite and end-of-life care for children and young adults throughout the North West.

In East Lancashire, the firm’s team will support the East Lancashire Hospice, which offers several services including counselling, an inpatient unit and even education for healthcare professionals.

The team will maintain close ties with Blackburn Youth Zone and will also continue to support the good cause during the year.

Penrith and Kendal staff will continue to support the Cumbria Community Foundation, and the Blackpool & Fylde office will continue to raise funds for Aspired Futures.

In Southport, Napthens will support the Queenscourt Hospice, a local charity which provides support for people with serious illnesses in West Lancs, Southport and Formby.

Partner Chris Boyle said: “Napthens’ staff across our offices are very proud of their links to the community.

“These good causes do so much to help people right on our doorstep and we are grateful for the chance to support them however we can. We hope our donations from all our activities from the last 12 months, and those we will make during 2017/18 can really make a difference for people.”
