Bowker BMW on Trident Park Park in Blackburn has appointed a new general sales manager.
39-year old Richard Cowell from Rawtenstall was previously corporate business development manager with the business.
Richard’s new role of general sales manager will also incorporate the position of BMW new car sales manager. Richard will provide support and assistance to sales manager colleagues at Bowker MINI; Bowker used cars; and, Blackburn Car Centre – who also operate on the site.
New Bowker BMW general sales manager Richard Cowell said: “I’ve enjoyed a great career with Bowker so far. And I’m proud to have been chosen to become the new general sales manager at Blackburn. Key sales roles like this, with such a well-known local family business, don’t come along very often. And I can’t wait to get started.”
Apart from a brief spell with the RAF, Richard has enjoyed roles at Bowker Motor Group in both Preston and Blackburn for 18 years. He began at Preston in aftersales before becoming a MINI sales executive; business manager; BMW sales controller and MINI manager until his most recent job in corporate business development.
In 2013, Richard cheated death in a 50 mph snowmobile collision in Vancouver. In the same year, Richard took only six months to achieve 12 month sales targets for the dealership’s business partnership. And he reached those targets despite spending a month recuperating from the accident!
In 2014 Richard was acknowledged as Local Hero by BMW UK.

And this latest role will give him another opportunity to develop and continue contributing to our success.

Last month, Bowker BMW in Blackburn was crowned BMW UK Aftersales Retailer of the Year. Bowker beat more than 150 other BMW retailers throughout the UK. The award recognises the retailer’s consistent aftersales performance across a wide selection of criteria including parts retailing; sales achievement; and customer satisfaction.
