Businesses called on to sign up to Corporate Challenge

Businesses across Burnley and Pendle are being called on to sign up to take part in a fundraising battle to raise the most money for Pendleside Hospice.

The hospice launched their 2017 corporate challenge at the start of March following the success of their first challenge last year, which saw 26 companies take part to raise more than £85,000.

So far 24 businesses have signed up to take part in the four-month fundraising head-to-head, which will help support the hospice to deliver care to the people who need its services.

The event is open to companies interested in signing up as well as those who have already signed up.

Each participating company will be given £50 donated by sponsor Charter Walk Shopping Centre in Burnley, which they have to try and turn into as much money as possible between 1st June to 30th September.

Fundraising suggestions include dress down days, bake sales, raffles or bag packing. You can also enter colleagues into one of the hospice’s organised events such as the Pendle Pub Walk, Colour Dash or Burnley 10k.

All sponsor money raised will help to provide care for local people who are coping with a life-limiting illness at a time when they need it.

Jennifer Haigh, Educational Accounts Manager at Rotherwood Teachers, based at Parker lane, Burnley said: “This is the first time we’ve taken part in the Corporate Challenge and we are all really excited about it.

“We already have a few ideas in the pipeline such as penny drop and are looking at doing the Burnley Colour Dash and Tough Mudder.”

Last year the title of Corporate Challenge Champion was awarded to Petty Estate and Letting Agents.

Petty Residential Director, Ian Bythell said: “The Challenge formed a key element of our Corporate and Social Responsibility programme for 2016 and that’s really important to us, as we are a business that’s rooted in the area – we all live here and work here and we care passionately about our community.

loyee engagement – everybody in the business got involved and they really enjoyed organising and taking part in all sorts of activities.

“Most of us have at some point experienced friends or family with life-limiting illnesses, so it’s humbling, inspiring and a real privilege to support the amazing service that is provided for people by our wonderful hospice.”

An awards event will be held in October where the winners from various categories will be announced.
