Based in Tarleton, Preston, the Harbour Business Group (“HBG”) has had a bumper year. With their year-end in March, HBG are proudly reporting a strong financial performance and a 100% increase in staffing levels. HBG has gone through a lot of change since forming in 2013.
This change and growth has only been possible due to the dedication of the individuals who are involved in the business, providing clients with customer service and business advice that is second to none. With the recent expansion, HBG has obtained a second office in Tarleton village, just yards away from the head office.
This now means that HBG has expanded their work force to more than double, presently sixteen team members……. with plenty of room for growth during the coming year.
This financial year HBG has taken on eight new team members covering expertise in human resources, marketing, sales and operations. The first newcomer in Summer 2016 was Stuart Kelly, merging his business SPK Financial Recovery into HBG Corporate. Stuart is a licensed insolvency practitioner, chartered accountant and a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. Stuart is the Head Partner of HBG Corporate.
Next to join was Ellie Jones in October 2016 who holds multiple roles, first being PA to CEO John Waller, and secondly part of the marketing team dealing with various areas including social media and local brand awareness.
Shortly after in January 2017, John-Paul Lander joined from Marshall Peters as an Assistant Manager in the operations department, overseeing insolvency case work and day to day running of the operations team.
Also during January Sue Taylor joined. With nearly 30 years’ management experience in both the public and private sector, Sue is a perfect fit for the role of New Business Co-ordinator, assisting with management of new business and the development of the internal systems to coincide with the rapid growth of the HBG business.
Late January saw the appointments of Peter Mangham-Jones and Claire Barton. Joining as directors of HBG Finance and HBG Property respectively. Peter has previously worked in two regionally influential financial firms and has the skills and expertise needed to take HBG Finance forward. Claire has a wealth of knowledge in residential and commercial property, previously running her own Estate Agency. Claire is perfectly suited for further growing HBG Property.
In March 2017, Sally Marshall joined the HBG Corporate operations team as a Case Administrator. With Sally’s background in retail banking and customer services she is a perfect fit to complement the operations team.
The most recent recruit to the practice is Alex Fletcher. Alex has joined business development and is focused on new work wins across the group. Alex’s background includes business development for the deVere Group, and prior to that he ran a telesales unit.
With this newly expanded team, HBG are more than confident they will achieve their ambitious 2017 goals and continue to grow. They are showing that professional services do not have to be formal and cold faced. Instead, HBG are friendly, empathetic and supportive whilst still providing the highest quality professional advice in the market.
John Waller CEO of the Harbour Business Group. “I put our growth down to three key areas, the economy, our dedicated team and our ethos of never over promising and never under delivering. Despite the salient challenges faced by businesses today, the economy has remained resilient and trading continues to go from strength to strength across the country in many sectors. Contrary to certain negative media, a strong economy is good for Insolvency Practitioners. If the economy is doing well, new businesses are opening, confidence is key and more expansive risks are being taken. This means our advice and support is needed more than ever. When the economy is weak, businesses close, cannot open again and fundamentally sound entrepreneurs often decide to revert to employment.”
