No Lancashire company is safe from the threat of ‘cyber attack’

Cyber security – every business is at risk.No Lancashire company is safe from the threat of ‘cyber attack’.

That was the stark warning given to business owners at a special interactive seminar organised by NatWest bank and cyber security experts Holker IT.

Matthew Metcalfe, managing director at Holker IT – with premises in Preston and Colne -explained the dangers involved when firms fail to pay due attention to system security.

“Cyber attacks are happening right here and right now,” said Matthew. “Anyone who feels it won’t happen to them is living outside reality.

“Protection that may have been good enough a year or so ago is no longer sufficient and it is imperative that businesses fully understand the size and scale of the threat.”

The “Cyber Security for Business’ event was held at NatWest’s Ewood House offices in Blackburn.

Michael O’Malley, director of business banking at NatWest (East Lancashire and Bolton), said: “We are very conscious of the need to keep our customers fully aware of the perils posed by hackers and to guide them on how best to protect their networks, data, systems and staff.

“Cyber security is clearly of great importance and the success of the presentation in conjunction with Holker IT will lead to other similar events in different areas.”
