NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PRESTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

Preston-based Conlon Construction has been recognised for being a considerate constructor at the National Site Awards 2017, which celebrate the country’s most outstanding building projects.

Hosted by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Conlon Construction picked up three silver and one bronze accolades for its work on Southlands High School in Chorley; Moss Side and Etrop Court District Offices in Greater Manchester; and Weeton Primary School in Blackpool respectively.

The awards were presented in recognition of the firm’s support of various initiatives including a donation of a vegetable garden, bird table and bird boxes to Weeton Primary School. The constructor also sponsored Gillibrand Warriors Football Club as part of Southlands High School project and carried out food collections for a local food bank whilst on site at Etrop Court.

A national initiative launched in 1997, the Considerate Constructors Scheme is a voluntary code of practice that maintains the industry’s ethical standards, ensuring all firms remain sensitive to the environment, communities and neighbourhoods in which they work.

Michael Conlon, chairman at Conlon Construction, said: “We are honoured to have been recognised for four awards this year. We always take care in the communities we operate in and strive to give back to people who live in the surrounding area or use the facilities.

“Some projects can go on for a considerable amount of time so it’s also important that we look after the local area and respect the environment whilst on site.”
