HomeServe volunteers in Preston ready to take Comic Relief donations

Staff at home assistance provider’s Preston office to help collect donations for the second consecutive year

Collection team to be joined by Preston actor and comedian Marvyn Dickinson and Preston North End mascot Deepdale Duck

HomeServe’s Preston contact centre will be turned into bustling hive of fundraising activity on Friday (March 24) as hundreds of volunteers take to the phones in support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day appeal.

HomeServe People will take donations from generous Brits until the early hours of the morning for the second consecutive year as Red Nose Day swings into overdrive across the nation.

But it won’t be all work and no play; the call takers and their families will be given special t-shirts and they’ll be fed and entertained throughout the night with comedians, magicians and dancing classes among the planned activities. Joining them will be Preston actor and comedian Marvyn Dickinson and Preston North End mascot Deepdale Duck.

And, when tiredness kicks in, a team from Red Bull will be on hand to offer call takers a boost if needed.

“We’re incredibly proud to be working alongside Comic Relief on Friday to raise as much money as we possibly can for such an important cause,” said Paula Homan, Claims Director at HomeServe’s Preston office. “It’s our second year in Preston but the 13th year overall that HomeServe has supported the appeal and it’s always really humbling to see just how many of our People volunteer to take calls or just help out on the night. We’re delighted Marvyn and Deepdale Duck will be joining us too!

“Comic Relief supports some truly worthwhile causes both in the UK and around the world and we know that our People will work tirelessly to make sure 2017 is one of the best Red Nose Days ever.”

In the run-up to Red Nose Day, HomeServe People have been taking part in a bake off competition – and a ‘Party Fun Day’ will be held during March 24 with party games, food and decorations across the Preston site.

HomeServe is one of the UK’s leading home assistance companies with offices in Walsall, Preston, Banbury, Nottingham and London. Its teams of engineers are also on hand across the country to help its 2.2 million Customers with a range of household repairs and improvements.
