Preston accountant to mentor the next generation of professionals at business competition

A leading Preston-based chartered accountant is to help mentor the next generation of business and accountancy professionals as part of a business competition.

Rebecca Bradshaw, a Director at Rotherham Taylor Limited, will be mentoring a team at the North West regional heats on Wednesday 8 March 2017 as part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ (ICAEW) BASE national business and accountancy competition.

The competition is open to teams of between four and six A Level students aged 16 to 19.

Each team is presented with a scenario outlining a variety of business issues, which the students must assess and propose solutions for. Each team is supported by a professional mentor to help them understand the issues to hand and to think through the possible solutions.

Rebecca Bradshaw said: “I am very much looking forward to once again acting as a mentor in the ICAEW BASE competition.

“Business and accountancy-related skills are often undervalued and this is a great opportunity to help nurture the next generation of professionals in the sector.

“Here at Rotherham Taylor Limited, we are always on the lookout for ways in which we can make a positive difference to our local community and the ICAEW BASE competition is an excellent example of the difference we can help make.”

Rebecca was a mentor to a team in the 2016 ICAEW BASE competition, which won the North West regional heat, and she travelled with the team to mentor them at the national finals in Birmingham.
