CHORLEY Council is gearing up to showcase the borough to top business leaders from all over the world at the second UK Northern Powerhouse International Conference and Exhibition in Manchester next week.
The forward thinking authority will be there to reinforce its position as the new City Gateway to the region’s major cities and to underline its potential for inward investment encouraging businesses to ‘Choose Chorley’ for business.
The prestigious event will attract over 3,000 delegates with keynote speeches from Lord Kerslake, chair of the UK Northern Powerhouse Advisory Board, Andrew Percy, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and Lord O’Neill of Gatley, former commercial secretary to the Treasury.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Chorley Council leader said: “We blazed a trail for Lancashire authorities by being the only one from the county to take a stand at this event last year and it proved hugely successful for us resulting in a number of enquiries from developers about potential new sites in the borough and from businesses considering re-locating to, or expanding into, Chorley.
“Driving economic growth and creating more jobs in Chorley is one of our priorities so it makes sense to us to showcase what we have to offer at an event such as this which brings high profile business leaders from across the country under one roof.
“It will help raise Chorley’s profile as an ideal location for companies to consider for relocation and gives us the opportunity to engage with investors, developers and regional companies to promote Chorley as a great place for business.”
The second UK Northern Powerhouse International Conference and Exhibition is being held in Manchester on Tuesday and Wednesday 21 and 22 February.
