Kommerling UK, a leading provider of adhesives, bonding and sealant products to the automotive, construction and manufacturing sectors, has announced that Lee Foulkes
has been appointed as a director of the company. Lee, who has been with the company for 15 years, latterly as Sales Director for Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong, takes on the role of General Manager for the company’s manufacturing operations in Preston, Lancashire where the Kommerling CIL product range is developed and produced. The company has also appointed Dr Andrew Carr as Technology Manager for the CILBOND products and Philip Lai took up his role as Regional Sales Manager, Southern Region, dealing primarily with the Kommerling range of adhesives and sealants in December 2016.
Dr Andrew Carr will work with Dr Norbert Scott, who is based at the company’s German headquarters, on developing the direction of future product developments. He will also have day-to-day responsibility for R&D, quality control & technical services and will work closely with Lee Foulkes to ensure close collaboration between the technical and sales teams.
Completing the new appointments is Philip Lai, who brings with him over 25 years’ technical and commercial experience in the adhesives, coatings and sealants sector, with particular focus on the automotive industry OEM’s and Tier 1 & 2 suppliers (exterior, interior and underbody on various substrates of metal and plastic) as well as in the wider general industrial sectors.

Dr Carr, said; “Now is an exciting time to join the company as we seek to build on the current product offering to meet the future demands of our customers. I’m looking forward to combining my knowledge of polymers and synthetic rubbers with Kommerling’s bonding expertise and making the most of the opportunities for new product development.”
“There were several aspects that attracted me to Kommerling, not least their reputation for the quality of their products, their manufacturing and technical facilities,” commented Lai, who has just completed a comprehensive induction course at the company’s main manufacturing plant in Pirmasens, Germany. In addition to sales responsibility for the existing customer base including distributors of the Kommerling, Stag and associated own brands in various technologies, he will also be responsible for the development of new business opportunities.
Prior to joining Kommerling Lai was sales manager with a distributor, Allchem and has also worked for other leading players in the adhesive, coatings and sealants market both in the UK, France and Germany.
Dr Andrew Carr has worked in the field of polymer and synthetic rubbers both in Europe and North America, including time with Lanxess.
