It’s all ‘Plain Sailing’ for Atlas

Business is booming Lancashire based Atlas Sailing who operate Sailing Holidays and Yacht Sail Training from their new base in Greece. Since relocating last August from La Linea in Spain bookings have rocketed with only 4 weeks remaining to be filled from their 2017 schedule.

Although operations are carried in Lavrion, Greece which is a short 25 minute drive from Athens, all bookings and administration is still carried out from their office in Leyland and the larger proportion of bookings are made by people in the Lancashire and North West area as that is where most of the marketing and advertising takes place.

They have even introduced a new very unique style of holiday for small groups called ‘Scubasail’ whereby people qualified to dive can book a week that will consist of Scuba Diving and Sailing. Guests have the choice of how to split their week for example they could choose 3 days of diving followed by 4 days of sailing around some of the idyllic Greek Islands.

Owner and Skipper ‘Andy Dobson’ said that he hasn’t come across anybody offering this type of holiday and has already had plenty interest expressed which may mean having to add extra weeks to the 2017 schedule.

Andy returns back to Lancashire for a few days each month to keep contact with the many friends and business contacts he has made in the NWLC and the Shout Network that have both been pivotal in the overall success of Atlas Sailing and also keep an eye on his other business interests in Lancashire.

Andy says:

“I have been over the moon with the way business has gone since transferring to Greece and although sailing around the Greek Islands for a living is fantastic and the places we visit are gorgeous it’s always good to get back to my roots in Lancashire. I don’t think I could ever permanently relocate abroad. It’s definitely not the Lancashire weather I miss, it’s the people.”
