Cheers to a successful first year at the Platform 3 cocktail bar

Opened just in time on Christmas Eve 2015, Poulton-Le- Fylde;s newest cocktail bar has had a great year. Platform 3, located next to the railway station, is easy to find, since it is, not surprisingly, next to Platform 2. It is one of several new businesses on Breck Road and is part of the plan to revitalise this area of the town.

The bar, which holds up to 100 customers and employs eight people, is owned by two local brothers, Michael and Richard Docherty. Their cocktail bar is now established as THE place to go in Poulton-Le- Fylde for an enjoyable evening. It is regularly described as “stylish, sophisticated, comfortable and casual.”

It is also the place to listen to good live music and enjoy innovative cocktails, whilst experiencing great service. All the bartenders are trained and knowledgeable in their craft. They love to be tested by making either classic cocktails or original drinks, based on a customer’s favourite recipe.

Platform 3’s top three most requested cocktails in 2016 are:

 strawberry marshmallow sling, which comes complete with toasted marshmallows on top,

 watermelon and kiwi crush, a long and refreshing drink with your own slice of watermelon and

 the zombie, with over four different types of rum and served with real flames.

Looking back on his first year, Michael Docherty, former Rossall school rugby coach, said:” My brother and I have always wanted to have our own cocktail bar and our first year has been both exciting and challenging, with many highs and lows. We have certainly learnt a great deal and all this experience will be invested into developing the business in 2017.

“The 2016 highlights for me were obviously the opening night and also when we introduced live music in March, followed by the new outside bar in September. “Over the next few months, we will be introducing several new cocktails (the first ones being in January) and hopefully receive permission to convert and open the upstairs floor to double the capacity “Finally, thank you to all our staff and loyal customers for making our cocktail bar vision a reality. Here’s to an even better second year!!”
