Following on from Cuadrilla’s successful appeal in Lancashire, another fracking site in the UK has been approved. This is as a result of an unsuccessful High Court challenge from residents of Kirby Misperton in Ryedale, North Yorkshire.
Fracking company, Third Energy, has now been granted permission to start its operations when the judge upheld North Yorkshire County Council’s original decision. The judge ruled that the terms and conditions afforded “a considerable degree of protection to residents”; that the Council’s decision was lawful and agreed that fracking could go ahead.
