North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce welcome St Cecilia’s R.C. High School as its latest Young Chamber School

North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce welcome St Cecilia’s R.C. High School as its latest Young Chamber School

St. Cecilia’s goes straight to the top of the class after becoming the latest school to sign up to the new Young Chamber of Commerce.

The programme, launched in 2016 by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is one which schools and colleges within the Chamber’s area can join to boost prospects for pupils and students.

Young Chamber is a national scheme run locally by chambers of commerce with accreditation from the British Chambers of Commerce.

Its aim is to provide young people with a real and meaningful understanding of business, jobs, careers and the range of potential opportunities that exist once they leave education.

“I’m delighted that St. Cecilia’s has joined our Young Chamber programme,” said Hayley Topselvi, the Young Chamber co-ordinator.

“I look forward to working with the teachers and pupils to offer the best possible opportunities and inspiration to our business leaders of tomorrow.”

Mr Ivan Catlow, Head teacher at St. Cecilia’s, added: “I am incredibly passionate about exposing our pupils to as many industries as possible. We need to ensure that we prepare our young pupils for the world of work. Allowing them to experience as much exposure to the world of business as possible at an earlier age will enable them to make well informed, confident decisions before embarking upon their chosen career path.”

“Our exciting partnership with the Young Chamber of Commerce will also give our pupils a competitive edge by allowing them to develop the range of employability skills that employers look for in their future employees.”
